Pave Diamonds

Updated on March 18, 2014

Today's walk

Pave diamonds appear in just

that degree or two between freezing, and melting.

every step is God in his might beautiful,

painful to the naked eye...

I see my trailing shadow-

long hair and lowered head,

Athena breaking path and rolling

herself into a snowdog;

could this be any better?

My dog sniffs out rabbit trail,

and I have words with the squirrel

(the old gomer) who always cusses us out-

We do normal things...

get the stuff for spagetti at the company store,

I take a bath, Athena right there.

It's me that suffers. I watch for signs

of pain.

None yet. Wagging tail, bright eyes...

What an unexpected gift.

I'll be grateful for what I get.

Everything extra is a gift.

My friends, my dog, my home

How lucky I truly am!

Bring it on!.

I'll be ready, with open arms...
