People's Pride

Updated on August 28, 2012

The 4th of July

People, balloons, and picnics, too;

Pets, parades, and memories loom;

Light the sky as fireworks boom.

America’s birthday’s in bloom.

Was on this fourth day in July,

When heroes made us burst with pride;

Our father could not tell a lie.

Freedom was won despite the cries.

Seventeen seventy six was the year;

Centuries have passed we hold dear.

America’s future is clear;

Thank the veterans who live here.

      Very nice. At first I thought this would be a hit against pride, and was more pleased with the actual poem :)

      I am so glad you like my poem. We must never lose hope in the American dream. It's up to us to keep the dream alive.

      You made a tear run down my cheek! LOL Beautiful, beautiful poem. And to think I'm watching the news and reading a few articles (Both here and around the net) and I was truly losing hope in the American dream - and the American Ideals the way they SHOULD be... Until this popped up ;P Thank you dear!

      Also, I thank you for supporting our soldiers and veterans.

      I'm also proud to be an American.

      I truly am proud to be an American and am grateful for all who fought and sacrificed for this land that I love. Thanks for a reminder.
