Perfect Weakness

Updated on June 14, 2013

A million different times a day I see something slight

Memories reminding me of a different fight

Something once upon a time ago I thought I was doing right

But my sight.

Has begun to fade and all I have are these

Swayed fairytales of a betrayed heart

And I start.

To imagine life without you and I

Years of this same with a different shell

Dwelling on what never was before I had

The chance to prove how real it was

For me.

Seeing us fade is like painting a picture

As everything slowly enters the water

I blame my own heart for the slaughter

Of dreams once held and a future we

Should of known.

I guess what I’m really saying is your

Heart is my home

And it’s my weakness because even without you I

Have to live.

But I can’t give up because it means I will

Roam over blackened earth until age and

Memories remind me of a different fight

Something once upon a time ago I thought I was doing right

Even if Heavens decide we cannot be

Let me rip these wings from me

So I may decide for myself where I belong

Writing, daydreaming, singing songs to you

So at least I can die knowing you knew

I wasn’t weak.

I know what you are saying Dreamer, but please don't take the pain in my writing as weight on my heart. What has happened has left a mark (since it's fathers day) like a nail in a fence. My Dad always said you can always add a nail into a fence but the scar will be there when the nail is no longer. But I'm okay :) to what degree is a different conversation but "Daniel" is fine. But I do appreciate the kind words.. some might say it's been a rocky several years.

You can't blame yourself for things going wrong. Placing blame accomplishes nothing. Just think on the happy memories you made and know there is going to be more, once you are ready to accept them.
