Perilous and Accepted

By Tony DeLorger © 2014

Perilously close to atrophy,

my overused brain just ceases,

my seasoned blood turns to powder,

its water-less gap, my reason.

For water is my fancy flight,

that creative flow that defines me,

for without it I am bloodless,

my comatose state just seamless.

I'd sit and stare my mind all lost,

if that door were closed before me,

and like a machine shut down, I'd waste and rust,

in a void of thought redeem-less.

The battery of this soul is clear,

my creative mind un-tethered,

and in this flight I thrive and conquer,

all postures strong and relentless.

For I am none of the others lives,

so committed to my purpose,

I can but relinquish all that contends,

to maintain my steady quotient.

And in my quest of connections made,

to all those who hold me dearly,

I can but promise my appreciation and heart-felt faith,

that life will treat them fairly.

So I hope that life will leave me to,

my journey of beauty from my words anew,

and allow this soul to be aligned with truth,

for all loves potential and a better world ensue.

What God has given me, shall never be in vain, for it defines this life and soul, and words shall bare the same.

Your lines are all beautifully phrased but I especially love the verse for " all those who hold me dearly." Very meaningful promise. Thank you.

Love this salute to the power of individual creativity and how it sustains, like oxygen. You are the "in the moment" king of poetry, Tony. I always love stopping by to read your work. Voted up and beautiful.
