We Hold These Truths... (a poem of inspiration)
My name is Benjamin Franklin, one honored signer of the Constitution,
As I watch in consternation...the state of affairs, characteristic of this nation.
Seeing the negativity to reign... and this as one unconscionable ovation,
Where has the dedication so gone, has the eagle now left, its representation?
My name is Thomas Jefferson, one honored supporter of this, our Constitution,
It's with greatest sadness that I see, such misuse, this terrible abomination.
The major precepts of our document, its depth, so tattered and lays in dust,
What did happen along the way...to this country, we love, held in our trust?
My name is Alexander Hamilton, one honored signer of this, our Constitution,
Who has changed our intent of this great plan.. its meaning,.. the explanation?
We fought so hard, gave many lives, so a nation may to live and to justly thrive,
When men try to change the meaning of our words, then how many shall survive?
My name is Washington, chosen leader, as president, a founder of our Constitution,
When good men drew up this revered document... it was a way of life, for a nation.
As time moves on, wise decisions may stand, to change... must represent a majority,
Misrepresentation, a complete reversal of its core, to overshadow, all of its authority.
My name is Abraham Lincoln, once a president of the United States, am now gone,
My tears are shed, for the many who have bled...serving our Constitution, in stone.
Conceived in liberty, dedicated to the proposition, that all men are created equally,
This script, by the hand of its signers, of God's own benevolence, done in sincerity.
My name is Roosevelt, Wilson, Eisenhower...once, presidents of the United States,
We so implore the new congress of this nation, to change the course, of our fates.
We must resolve the most daunting of issues...the honor and respect, of our values,
Seems to destruct from within...despite foes from without...the road that we so choose.
My name is no man...or all men...the future is ours, the decisions we make are our own,
Let history proclaim...ours had the name, an honorable, just and civilized society, shown.
As the Lord God as our witness, we have given our best, and in his arms, we shall rest,
The days, His to give...in goodness, we all did live, on this green earth, were so blessed.
