Persecuted until found Innocent

Persecuted until found Innocent

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

How willing we are to twist the knife,

the poor souls of circumstance, unyielding their innocence.

Without thought or consideration we find solace in dissension,

a choice of finding dissimilar traits and persecuting because of it.

How have we become so critical, so damning in our views,

to equate difference to harm or worse to evil.

How have we joined together in our false perspective,

giving strength to the impropriety of judgement.

How have we adhered to the causation of suffering,

based on slanderous belief and the lies of powerful men,

who in their thirst for greed and position,

defame the innocent to fill their coffers.

How easy are we to fall to the inequities of life,

but step to the side of privilege and ignore the less fortunate.

Have we lost all compassion, so selfish to have blinded ourselves to reality,

or are we weak and mesmerised by power and the tyranny of false prophets.

Whatever the case, group thinking is far too dangerous, too easy.

We must learn to think for ourselves, not follow lunatics, politicians and religions.

They are the purveyors of dissension and the claimers of right,

discounting all others in their arrogance.

We must learn to recognise innocence.
