Peter Pan Grew Up

Updated on October 4, 2012

It was because of his love for Wendy

A love that opened up his heart

The Lost Boys had all left Neverland

And there was no fun anymore

Even though Tinker Bell’s heart

Would forever ache for what it couldn’t have

She came to realize

That she had to let Peter go

The day that Peter left Neverland

He made sure he’d never forget

He said farewell to his Indian friends

And left an angry Captain Hook behind

So as the years passed

Peter knew his decision at been right

Now he and Wendy were married

And had three kids of their own

It was as if fate were repeating itself

There was their daughter 10 year old Mary

Their middle child a son Tim at 8

And the littlest boy Toby at just 5

Wendy kept the Peter Pan stories alive

She told them to her children

Most every night

Until Mary knew them by heart

It was at this time

That Wendy and Peter

Made the decision

They would take their children to see Neverland

They wanted their children

To believe in dreams

At least until they were still young

Because the world would dash them soon enough

So Peter put out a call for Tink

To come and bring the pixie dust

But it was a Tink whose heart had hardened

Throughout these years that received the call

Since Peter had left

She had gone to live among the other pixies

But she longed for Peter

And the adventures they had had

So with jealousy and anger

In her little pixie heart

She went to see Captain Hook

Who had just returned with new treasure

Now Captain Hook would always consider Peter

An enemy that was just how it was

It had been years but now and then

That nasty crocodile still happened by

When Captain Hook heard about Peter

His eyes glinted in delight

What joy what fun

Was to be had for all

He arranged for Tink

To give him the call

As soon as Peter and family

Arrived in Neverland

Then Captain Hook

Called Smee and arranged

For him and the pirate crew

To be at the ready

He figured he’d grab Peter’s two boys

They’d make great pirates after awhile

Then he’d start up an Indian fight

Just to keep Peter busy for some time

Wendy well Wendy

What good were females anyway

Captain Hook would think of something

And he’d think of it quick

The clock struck midnight

When Tink and her pixie dust arrived

Wendy had dressed the children for night travel

And there was great excitement in the air

A little pixie dust here and there

A lot of good thoughts

And soon the family

Was ready for their flight

Peter in the lead

The children in the middle

Wendy at the rear

And Tink jumping here and there

They flew through the London night air

And soon Peter felt his heart begin to thump

Down below them from here so tiny

Appeared Neverland

Down the swooped

And Tink took them to the old oak

Wendy was dismayed to see

What the years had done

But she figured a little dusting

And a lot of washing

And for one weekend

This would do

Now Peter was just so excited

Even though he wasn’t a boy anymore

He wanted to dash all about

To see what Neverland looked like now

So Wendy and Mary stayed behind

And Peter and Tim and Toby

Went off toward the jungle

It was Peter’s idea to take them to his Indian friends

Now Tink knew she had to be clever

So while Peter was busy

With the boys so excited

She dashed off to see Captain Hook

However there was a big flaw

In Captain Hook’s plan

While he’d been planning

Some Indian scouts had heard

When Peter and his sons

Reached the Indian Village

The Indian chief was waiting

He had some news to report

When Peter heard of Captain Hook’s

Devious plan he was saddened to learn

That Tink was involved

He’d hoped she’d forgiven him long ago

However before anything else could be said

Smee and the pirates were upon them

In the battle that took place

Tim and Toby disappeared real quick

Oh, that Captain Hook was a devious one

He had managed to do it just the same

And it was Tink who by now had become frightened

Who brought it to the attention of Peter

The fight stopped

And the Indians and Peter

Realized that the pirates

Had tricked them real well

But Peter had had his dealings with Captain Hook

And he wasn’t worried about his sons

Their mother and Mary had told them enough tales

To make this one great big adventure for them

Now his main concern was Wendy

Who had never lost her hatred

For the horrid Captain Hook

And she’d sure be angry when she heard

So Peter arranged for the Indians’ help

And they set off to ambush the ship

While Peter rushed back to the old oak

He had to tell Wendy and he had to do it now

Wendy was so very mad

She hated that scoundrel Captain Hook

Along with their daughter Mary

They all hurried to the Pirate’s Cove

There Peter saw

That he had sons to be proud of

Tink had regained herself

And the boys were flying above the battle

Both Tim and Toby flew to and fro

Knocking off pirate’s hats

And creating other boyish mischief

While the Indians and the Pirates fought

Leaving Wendy and Mary on the shore

Peter grabbed Tink for some pixie dust

Off he flew straight for that scoundrel

Captain Hook

Captain Hook was screaming for Smee

As an Indian had him on the plank

Beneath with real glee

That mean ole’ crocodile waited

Meanwhile Mary discovered a canon

Hidden by some bushes

Wendy helped her pull it out

And with the help of the Indian Chief

They positioned it and loaded it

And were ready to fire

Peter Pan and Captain Hook were sword playing

And the Indian Chief gave the signal

All of the Indians jumped off the ship

And head for shore

Then they lit the canon

And boy did she roar

The canon ball went

Straight through the pirate ship

It swerved to one side

Peter meanwhile gave Captain Hook

One more mighty shove

He hung on by mere inches

Then Peter grabbed his boys

And they landed on shore

Then the Indians and Peter and family

Watched as Captain Hook teetered

The crocodile danced with glee

Will Smee tried to shoo him away

Down sank the pirate ship

With lots of shouts and yells

As the pirates tried to save

Both rum and treasure

Everyone headed toward the Indian village

Where Princess Tiger Lily

And family had prepared a huge Pow Wow

They partied till dawn

Then Peter’s tired family

Went to sleep in the great oak

Tink stood on guard

Morning came and with the early dawn

They quickly flew back to London town

Even the children as excited as they were

Were glad to see the towers of London once more

And that night it was Peter who told them a story

He told them how dreams and fantasies were wonderful things

But when all was said and done

There came a time for everyone

When they had to grow up

Once and for all time

A Peter Pan fan! don't try to deny it. The poem gives you away. Don't feel anything but good. Who do you think my son, Peter, is named after?

      Morning Gypsy.

The sad thing about my childhood is that I can't remember ever having a peter pan story read to me at bed time or any other time.

Your story shows me what I have missed.

      Voted up and thanks.

Bravo! Bravissimo Rasma. You took me back to those evenings with Disneyland present, back in the late 60's. I actually never grew up as you see in my pic. Your poetry is well researched and the keywords took me to the very end. I always wondered if there was actually a real person behind Peter Pan. Captain Hook would've been a great Lobbyist by the way!

Delighted by your comment Lord. Peter Pan was always one of my greatest fantasies when I was a child. Never could figure out why I couldn't just spread out my arms and fly when the wind blew. Forgot that I needed pixie dust. Yes, Captain Hook would of done well as a Lobbyist.
