Places to Write for Money on the Web

Updated on June 15, 2012

There are many places to write for money on the internet. Here is a brief summary of the best places.

1. HubPages: Yes, it's true. HubPages is one of the best place to write for on the web. The greatest feature of this website is the ability to add in your own revenue generating links. This is an unusual feature but one that provides you, the author, with many ways to make more money from your web articles. You can add Google AdSense, ebay, and Amazon links. Another positive thing about HubPages is that you can write about whatever you want, with only a few reasonable restrictions applied for topic and length. Hub Pages is simple to use and also has a great writer's community to offer support and advice.

2. Triond: This is a very interesting website for writers that works a little differently than the others. You write your article using your own word processing program (eg. Microsoft Word) and then upload it to their site. They review it, and publish it on one of their associated pages that is relevant to your topic. This is a good idea, since your content is published on a specific website that is targetted towards the reader's interests. Revenue is earned through ad-sharing, such as Google links.

3. Helium: Helium is a fun place to write and offers several ways to earn money. You can participate in Writer's Contest to try for your chance to win prize money based on reader-rated quality of your piece. Or you can visit the Marketplace and write articles for real publishers who pay for the rights to your article. Topics are varied and fun. This is a good place to write if you have trouble thinking of things to write about as the contests and publishers give you the title to write about.

4. Constant Content: This is a website that sells your articles or photos to publishers. You can write an article about whatever topic you want or you can choose from the Requested Topics provided by publishers. You set the amount you want to sell your article for, and also can choose whether to sell the full rights or partial rights. Payment is made to your PayPal account.

5. PrintNPost: PrintNPost is a good website to write for because you can add your own Google Adsense to your articles. There are very few restrictions about topics you can write about, and articles are generally reviewed and published very quickly. There are some technical issues with the website that makes it difficult to naviagate, but the FAQ's are enough to get you started.

All of these websites are free to join. So get out there and get writing! A little extra cash is always a good thing.

I prefer writing unique content that I could set a decent price to.

I have been writing for sites that have not paid much, since they utilize traffic as a source of income. It is not the job of the author to generate traffic, for that role is well suited for the web site owner using an author's content. The site that I prefer in this post is Constant Content.
