Play on Words

Updated on May 18, 2012

Words, words, they can be

so much fun

some come out

and they start to run

Words can slice

just like a knife

Don't say the wrong words

to your wife

words can lift you

up to the sky

words can give wings

and...make you fly

How we use words..

are what they mean

words are not only heard

words are real , they can be seen

Words are heavy

words are light

words can please

words can bring fright

Words can hurt

the sweetest one

Words can cause pain

when they are done

What you say with words

does effect us all

so listen to my words

and heed my call

the next time you want

to open your mouth and speak

engage your brain first

or people will freak

"It is far better to have people think you are stupid,

than to open your mouth and confirm all doubts ! "

Deeply insightful, Michael, well said. I talk too much, sometimes it's better to have duct tape handy. =)

Very true words about words. Words can be a great tool, or a dangerous and deadly weapon.

How often I have opened my mouth and spoken without thinking--I always regret it--thank you for a clear and witty reminder to think before I speak!

Oh Michael this is so true, words once said cannot be taken back. We can easily change our mood, but not words that have been already spoken. Love your last line.
