Pleasure and Time ( A Trip for Your Mind )

Updated on March 21, 2011

- Taste Test -

Something sweet
Lies beneath
Your candy shell
Melts away
In my mouth
Disarming
Disrobing
Exciting
Inviting
Blindfold me
And let
Me guess
Which part
Of you
I’m tasting
And whisper
In my ear
Which part
Of me
You’re craving

- Release -

Overlooking
The world
From atop
The clouds
Slipping through
The moisture
Surrounded by
Cool cotton
Blanketing us
In bliss
Enveloping us
In this
Final
Ceaseless
Moment

- Tangents -

If you were here

With me

And I was there

With you...

Maybe one

Of our realities

Would have

A different result

Than the one

That we’re in

- OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING -

The beginning

Of time

Was nothing more

Than the beginning

Of the end...

We've been living

In the end

Since the beginning,

And that’s

Far too long

To be living

In fear

Nellie - hahaha yes, taste test was quite a poem...

I am glad you picked up on the parallel universe concept which is what I intended.

I have never heard of a Mobius strip, and will look that up shortly.

Thanks very much for all your reads/comments :]

      *hugs*

I said "WOW" out loud after reading "Taste Test". WOW!

"Release" reminds me of flying. I love that imagery.

Both "Tangents" and "OMG The World Is Ending" speak of some concepts which are difficult to describe but which I always feel to be so much "the way it is": the simultaneousness of - everything, including any two individual human universes going on side by side yet totally separate; and also, as you are saying - actual parallel universes; and the timelessness of Time.

Tangents speaking of simultaneous realities remind me of an asymptote. A straight line and a curved one which begin an almost parallel path, but the distance between them is such a way that they never meet or cross each other, not because they couldn't but because the angle of their paths is so infinitesimal that it would take Infinity to happen.

Time convoluting back on itself reminds me of a Möbius strip, which is like a flat continuous belt, but with a twist in it, so that there is no inside and outside to the surfaces, nor any right side and wrong side. If something is moving along on it, its trail would traverse every surface without coming to an end or to its starting point. It would just continue on. What's funny, too, is that if the strip is, say, 2" wide and with 18" of surface and you cut it parallel to its sides, it doesn't make two 1" wide 18" circles or two Möbius strips, but just one 1" Möbius strip with 36" of surface! When you have kids, it will be a fun experiment for you to play with them! You probably have already encountered it yourself.

lizzybeth! how nice of you to drop in, and be the first person who mentioned one of my non-sexy poems :D

You definitely got that one the way I intended it.

      Thanks a lot :D

Third one, amazing. Makes me wonder which one would be better, and whether or not it would work better in his reality or mine. To be with, or to have. Beautiful and thought provoking as usual Ben!! :)

Nice. Images arrive here rapid fire. I'm usually not a romantic, but I have to agree with Randy this time and give the first one my stamp of favorite. All were interesting though, and explored unique viewpoints.

Glad to hear how much the hub has helped your writing. Mine too. I joined in November and since then writing poetry has become a constant part of my life. Beats the hell out of any other social site. Keep it up, Ben. Peace and War.

yea, i got it. i was just kinda adding a reality or saying if one of those was different, would it stop the world from ending? just putting all your poems together to make my comment lol.

Nikki - not sure how many people picked up on what I meant by the poem "tangents". It was actually referring to multiple universes/realities. If I was there with you AND you were here with me implies 2 separate realities.

Thanks for the comment and read :]

belly bell bel - thanks :D I like to entrap :P

again, loved em. the first one is my fave. so tantalizing and seductive. i love the blindfold game lol, the last one, omg the world is ending lol, is so true, we are destined for end...maybe not tomorrow, maybe not in 2012, but eventually somewhere down the line, earth will abandon us. or maybe not...who knows. with our technology today and etc etc, people going green and all that, maybe theres some hope for us afterall, perhaps the earth is resillient, but by then will it be too late for us? either that or the moon is gonna take us in its gravitational pull and suck us in. it was supossedly really close the other night. it was beautiful though, big and bright, or maybe aliens will take over...Who knows?

If I were there, and you were here, would it stop the world from ending?
