Pledge of Life

Somewhere at the edge..

of life and death,

Is this where....

I take my last breath

Standing looking,

over the edge

I refuse to give up..

this is my pledge

If I go down, the choice is mine

exploring the deep, what will I find

How did I come...

to be in this place

I did my best..

I ran the race

I wasn't in first place...I wasn't last

Now it is all,

in the forgotten past

What do you do

when your heart is true ?

When you given your all..

but still.. lonely and blue

Take my hand.. My Lord

show me the way,

to peace and joy.... where your Lamb lays,

Where love is soft and warm..

with eternal bliss...

Make it real ....give me Death's..

sweet kiss

Oh my goodness, how very dramatic!!! Yes, it is indeed up to Him when our final day on this earth will occur no doubt, unless . . . do not want to go there, as there is always hope of tomorrow and of love, fresh and anew!

Superb poetry! Voted up +++ and sharing Also, very lovely images.

God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper

Good work. I have seen 4 men die (old age). One was very afraid. Thank you for this.

I thought you really conveyed the doubts and questions some people feel about life. Do we continue onward? Do we give up? Do we ask God to help us through?

Your poem was very emotional and the imagery was excellent. I thought you did an excellent job.

My mother, at 104+, must soon be at that edge. I know angels will attend her, whether it be soon or later. This is a fine Hub. Thank you.

Dear Perspycacious - Your mother has lived a long life! How many people can reach and surpass the century mark?

Cleaner - You're making us think of our ending days again. Have you been looking at that Mayan Calendar and hearing all the news about 12/12/12 ?

I hope nothing serious has happened. Just breath.

Interesting thoughts and I liked the way you expressed them in poetry. Our times are in God's hands and it's not up to us to decide when it's time to go, we just need to trust that His timing is perfect for each of us. Thank you.

      Michael,

A very emotional, deep thoughts revealing write...

One does question the 'end' of their existance every now and then, but only God holds those answers ~ and we simply have to 'wait.'

      Lovely images and beautifully presented;-)

      Blessings!

you are the voice that fills my dreams of love and wonderment , if only the lord could give us immortality would we be able to truly comprehend the feelings of those who yearn for true life.

      Love you Always..

Michael, I'd forgotten how beautiful and passionately you write, this is poignant and thought provoking.

As a nurse, I've seen many deaths, some are greeted as old friends others hanging on to the very last breath, but when the time comes, we must all jump. Voting up and awesome.
