Poalima Morning

I spent a restless Thursday night--

couldn't sleep at all.

Hawaiian heat just got to me--

drove me up the wall!

I went outside to take a walk

when I heard this song.

It seemed to come from just beyond

Alakoko Pond.

POALIMA MORNING!

Feel the magic in the air!

Sun on sea horizon

lifting shadows everywhere.

Feel like casting all my cares

in Nawiliwili Bay.

POALIMA MORNING

and a menehune kind of day.

A funny-looking chubby man,

loincloth 'round his waist,

sat on a rock just pounding poi--

taro into paste.

He looked at me and winked his eye.

I had to rub my own.

When I looked back, he'd disappeared!

Left me all alone.

POALIMA MORNING!

Feel the magic in the air!

Sun on sea horizon

Lifting shadows everywhere.

Feel like casting all my cares

in Nawiliwil Bay.

POALIMA MORNING

and a menehune kind of day.

I've heard of tales of Wand'ring Jews,

Rip Van Winkles, too,

but ne'er one like the one I lived,

one that led me to...

POALIMA MORNING!

Feel the magic in the air!

Sun on sea horizon

Lifting shadows everywhere.

Feel like casting all my cares

in Nawiliwili Bay.

POALIMA MORNING

and a menehune kind of day.

I just wish I knew how to record the song using a webcam. Maybe someday I' will learn. : ) Thanks for stopping by, Brandi!

    Aloha!

    Hi, WND!

Oh, do I ever get homesick! Especially when I "visit" my family of origin and the extended relatives via Facebook and see all the lovely pictures of family and island scenery. Holidays also evoke that feeling of nostalgia.

But I also love my nuclear family and where I live now. So, I look at Hawai'i now as a beautiful place to visit in more ways than one...but when the visiting time is over, it's so very nice to come back home.

Thanks so much for stopping by, WND! I'm still recuperating from my head being in the washing machine--or wild surf!--of the Hubs challenge. Ha-ha!

Do you get homesick? Interesting words to an interesting food. Great going.
