Poem ..........And There Will be Horses

Updated on March 5, 2016

There will be no wars no government
there will be no broken hearts
there will be no lovers who secretly hate
no vehicles but wagons and carts

There will be no glamor no armies
no child abuse no crime
there will be no terror no refugees
moving or leaving all the time

There will only be a keeping of promise
a giving of oneself
everyone will be fed and cherished
not one heart on the shelf

There will be green pastures and running waters
rocky paths and quiet rides
there will be beautiful dreamers and lovely women
oceans and tides

There will be long green valleys quiet sunsets
and blue water courses
There will be deer in meadows eagles on wings
and of course there will be horses

      Hi Shan , a horseback riding rink and a few lessons are just what you need . Don't forget to get your "me time " in once in a while . It is fun , its really ,really good for the soul. Ever heard of that old saying "The outside of a horse is good for the inside of man" [ women ] ! Its so true . The connection between the horse's and you' re heart is very rewarding and very healing ........:-}

What a serene and beautiful poem! When I was young, I longed to one day live on a ranch with horses, lots of horses. They symbolize a sort of wild freedom in my mind. This ranch was to be large and open, perhaps in Montana or Wyoming. Who knew I'd one day actually move to a state where ranches are part of the cultural ideals and stereotypes? I guess there's hope for me yet - even if it is a lot further south than I always imagined. Although, considering I really do not like the cold, the south is probably a better location. hahaha Anyway, this poem reminds me of that feeling the dream conjured in me.

Oh, and by the way, I did read that poem you first read at age 12. Wow! No wonder it stuck with you! What a horrific tale. I think a poem like that would've given me nightmares, or made me shiver at the very least. The imagery in it is powerful. It definitely stirs emotions.

A lovely poem. Next to dogs, horses are man's (and woman's) best friends.

Oh how I would love a beautiful world like that, Ed. To be in peace and serenity may seem like an impossibility in these days - but, somewhere ...

Very lovely, relaxing poem. Thank you.

Love the positive message of this poem Ed. It follows a similar theme to my poem, "The Dispossessed".
