Poem: Are We Truly Meant To Be?

Updated on January 30, 2013
Source

When I lost you

I thought I’d lost my life

You were my best friend, my lover

Hell, I was your wife

And now look at us

Just look at this mess

Puffy faces, red eyes

Always constant distress

Ages of hurting

Lies painfully all around

Bittersweet, memories

Achingly surrounds

Years have now past

But that part of me still burns hot

The tearing and searing

Pleasure is long forgot

Still I miss the old you

I miss the old us

With miles between, chasms deep

Filling more so with darkening dust

But what if, what if

This is not supposed to be

I hold on, deep down

To the thought of you and me
