Poem - As The Moon Passes

Updated on January 12, 2011

You walk
And wait
With aimless expectation
As love kisses the moon
Unaware
You turn the covers
For the night
While it is blown to you
Silently touching your heart
Coloring your dream slumber
With a promise
For your awakening
When you will see
Lost feelings... drifting
In the sky
That covers your life
Feelings
Wandering aimlessly
Until you collect them
With your eyes
And put them to rest
Inside your heart
Opening the door
Inviting the moon's silent kiss
To live forever
Where the marriage
Of feelings and a kiss
Will remain
While the sky
And the moon
Give... and give
More... and more
Filling the gap
Between you
And me...

A powerful, probing look at self......You touch and have been touched; thus the sun sees you through the moon, guiding your days, and the moon clothing your nights, leaving the question of why, also in the sky.

Interesting juxtaposition of moon and sun effects on emotions. Lots of beautiful expression, too - as we've come to expect from one of our favorite poets, -

      certainly one of mine!

      Erin,

Thank you... the moon is a rich source of inspiration... I'm just glad I can come up with anything that smacks of originality...

Thanks for reminding me about that verse in the comment section.. I do want to do something with that...

Beautiful, I do so love the moon in all her beauty, moods, secrecy, and how she pulls on our emotions. I also adored the extra added verse about why the moon is so close to our hearts - your thoughts about the sun were so intriguing! You could write a verse on that alone! I enjoy your poetry so much. Thanks for all the votes Nayo! Yes this is the belief that the love is still there even though the gap seems bigger than the love... it's a matter of believing that time is shorter than the gap and it will all be filled...

      Oh beautiful and awesome poem~

And this gap you talks about, it is the hard thing to fill... Love and the lost love, has little difference we take time to be sure about it. Poor people, they fall in love, and they believe it is there... And of cause moon, and the sky will be waiting, to keep the company... I always enjoyed what you write. And I vote Beautiful and AWESOME!

Thank you Larry my friend and best wishes to you and your family for the holidays. Nice picture by the way; you look tanned and happy.

I'm glad you continue to follow my work... I wrote this last night while watching some John Lennon and Yoko documentary footage last night... they were apart for some time and I thought of them as soul mates who could kiss the moon and have it hand it to the other as it passed in the night...

      Why is the moon

      So close to our hearts?

      While the hot sun

      Burns love before it starts

      We can look

      Into lunar eyes

      While the solar winds

      Carries their goodbyes

Very sensitive. Why is the moon so close to our hearts? Perhaps the sun sees us too clearly.
