Poem: BeLIEf

Updated on January 24, 2012

A change of pace...

I don't write a lot of poetry, but here's something I wrote around 10 years ago that I thought I'd share. Let me know what you think in the comments.

We are the shadows
In the shadows
The light
Within the light.

You fear us in your dreams,
Feel us in your brainstem.
When you see something that your simple mind
Tells you that you could not have seen,
You have seen us.

In past times, we were simply called
<insert blasphemous line here>
but times change, and fools are (albeit slightly) less gullible than before.
And we are worshipped in many different ways now.

Modern fools called us “aliens” at Roswell,
“Mothman” in West Virginia,
“Big Foot” in the North,and
“Goat-Sucker” in the South.

We are these things and we are not these things.
But beLIEve what you want.
