I Wish Everyone Had A Dad In Their Life

A Poem For All Of The Fatherless Children

It sounds like an oxymoron, putting the word fatherless and children in the same title

But, It was how I felt most of my life

I knew him and loved him

But, It was how I lived most of my life

I saw him now and then, and then he would disappear like a vapor in thin air

But, It was how I lived, searching for him, most of my life

I wish, I could tell you good stories like sugar plum kisses and lollipop dreams

But, It was how I dreamt most of my life

I questioned him on many occasions, why he would leave us more than he stayed?

But, It was how I pondered, most of my life

He is old now and doesn't want to live near his loving children, It is like he can not be near himself

But, It is how I lived most of my life

You may ask me, how can one love and care for such a man

But, It is how I cared most of my life

I hope this poem doesn't make you sad, I wish, I had another story to share, on Father's Day

But, This is the way it has been, most of my life

Happy Father's Day, Dad, I love you UNCONDITIONALLY

Because, That is how I have Loved you, most of my life.

A True Story!

9 Months ago I wrote this Poem. Today, My Dad is Living with me and My family. He is 87 Years old. I received a call that he wasn't being taken care of properly with the people he lived with. My younger sister and I went to get him and he lives with me now. Life never ceases to amaze me. Never thought that when I wrote this poem Dad would be in my home. Wow, God is full of surprises and I Thank Him for a heart that doesn't ask a lot of questions, when he does the unexpected.

Scripturs says to honour your mother and father so that your days will be long. And we've heard the saying, 'what goes around comes around'. May your days be long and filled with unconditional love. Be blessed...

That's life my dear. Some through the water some through the flood. Some parents are just weird others are so loving and nice. The most important is for you to love him even if he don't show his love to you as you do to him.

God will bless you still for honoring your daddy. No matter what he's your dad and if it wasn't for him you wouldn't be here ;)

Many fathers strive for a better experience for their own children than they had. Thank you for writing this.

How sad and yet how beautiful to love someone who is not there all your life. What a wonderful daughter to have such unconditional love. Cast your care on the most important Father in heaven who loves unconditionally.

      Blessings and peace!

We can look back and see all the pain and mistakes or choose to focus on the positives and love. Sometimes we were the only ones who loved and that is enough. Since the past can never be changed we must change the future by our choices. I choose to love and you do too. What a wonderful heart you have. Blessings to you. HB

My dad was not always there either. Very critical. I was always trying to please him. Well, I stopped. A few years before he died he apologized. Said, he knew he wasn't the easiest person to live with. He never made amends with my mom and sister though and that is sad.

Thanks My Stories, for reading my work. The only way to Love someone that doesn't love you, is with the Love Of Jesus! With the Love of Jesus, you can love. Love you with the Love of Jesus! A true Poet never sugar coats anything! God Bless

Wow! That was a really good poem. I have to admit, I did feel sad, but it was how you lived. I often ask myself how can we love someone who doesn't love us back, but it happens all the time.
