Looking back

Remembering the past

Missing one that died

Feeling sad shedding many tears

Thinking I could have done more

Regretting the times I should have visited

Wishing I could go back several years ago

Wanting to say I love you one more time

This poem was written for my cousin John Larsen. We were the best of friends and as close as a brother and sister. I miss him dearly.

When I first heard "One More Day" originally by Diamond Rio, I thought of Johnny. Stan Fletcher had turned me onto this song, and every time I hear it now, it brings tears to my eyes.

The song still makes me cry, no matter how many times I listen to the darn thing.

That song tugs at my heartstrings.

Beautiful, heartfelt poem about your cousin. It's always sad when loved ones move on, maybe especially when it happens before they are traditionally "old". I feel for you.

I hope you're doing okay, and that you have a great week.

      ~ Kathryn

Sharyn, We were very close. I never had a natural brother or sister and when my mother first died Johnny's mother helped to raise me. There was only a couple of years difference between us and our birthday were 2 days apart. Anyways I could could write another hub right here in the comments box, but we were more like brother and sister than cousins. Thanks so much and Stan's song does fit perfectly.

I love this poem you wrote for your cousin. He obviously was quite special to you. And I love the song too, listened to Stan's a while back. It truly fits.

Daffy, Thank you so much. Sorry for the loss of your cousin. I was able to spend a week with him about six months before he died, and I am so glad that I did have that time with him. Thank you again.

      Thank you for this hub.

We all lose someone we really care about and have regrets when they're gone. It's interesting how we never think of any regrets when they're around.

This hub reminds me of my cousin who died back in 1990 and the song his brother played at his funeral: "Heaven" by Warrant. It can be difficult to put your feelings on display at a funeral...........or on the internet.

These words are often spoken but are sincere every time.

      I'm sorry for your loss.

Johnny knows of your feelings and your love. I firmly believe that when we leave this earth, we take the love with us; and are, as Ken said, watching over those we love in their own way. Lovely words written by a lovely person.

The beauty of closeness are the memories that we can fall back on, a beautiful tribute to a friend my friend. Don't be so hard on yourself sweet Susan, because he watches over you as an angel should, you are never alone, he is with you believe that. Hugs to you my friend. Yes a wonderful song and Stan singing it a real bonus.

Hyphenbird, If you get a chance to, please come back and listen to this song. Make sure you have a tissue handy when you do though. I like Stan's version better than the original song. Thank you.

Oh Susan, this is lovely. Johnny is aware of your love and of this tribute to him. We all should be loved enough to receive something like this. I wish I could listen to the song but my computer sound is not working for some reason. Just a loving poem and thing to do for your cousin/friend/brother.
