Poem: We Do Not Stand Alone

Updated on October 29, 2012

There are those who came before us, progenitors as I am told. They toiled the soil and modeled life, delivering episodic tales. We reflect on prior lessons hoping to learn from past mistakes, examples replete with wisdom, lives devout with anecdotal wails.

Ruminations from the dust pass from one generation to the next, releasing souls from imprisonment, unleashing all that is robust.

We draw from these experiences, enhancing lives along the way, fulfilling dreams and legacies before we go away.

How Are You Making a Difference?

I would love the opportunity to hear about projects others are immersed in. How are you paying it forward? How can others like me learn from these experiences?

In order to truly make a difference in the world, we need to educate one another. As writers, we have the power to exchange ideas and promote good globally, especially using this vehicle called the hub.

So, let's form a virtual link and involve ourselves in something that can effectuate beautiful and positive change.

cam8510 I think it is important to mentor others if you hold a key to helping another person through a rough time that you yourself have overcame. Good for you!

Robin, this is very inspiring. Right now I am in the process of eliminating my personal debt. My plans are to use the financial freedom this provides to help others who are struggling financially. I have been blessed with a new job that is making this a realistic goal. I would welcome the opportunity to share this with others and encourage them to the same.

Wonderful reflection on we, as writers, can affect our world. As they say, the pen is mightier than the sword. The arts have always been instrumental in persuading people on life views. Let's use it for good. Well done and voted up.

This is an interesting hub that got me thinking. I do try to write in a way that is of benefit to others, but at first I thought I don't do community service - because I don't do anything formal. Then I thought some more and realised I do a variety of tasks, from taking my kids' friends home from school to being an listening ear for various people.

And then, the community is pretty much global today, so perhaps my writing counts after all.

Thanks for a thought provoking hub.

"fulfilling dreams and legacies before we go away." I haven't gotten there yet, but I'm working on it. Being part of something bigger than ourselves is what many people desire. This is a good challenge you have placed before us. Thanks Robin.

A beautiful message, Robin! I firmly believe that we, as writers, have the ability to make a huge difference in this world. It is why I write; it would be so easy to write "evergree" hubs and collect my pittance from HP, but that would be selling myself short as a writer. I have been given a voice, and I want to use that voice to raise awareness in this world, and to bring us closer together.
