Poem - Put Down Your Unholy Knife

Updated on December 31, 2010

Put Down Your Unholy Knife

"Judge not lest ye be judged"
"Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone"
"Blessed are the peacemakers"
"Turn the other cheek"

Why do you forget this lesson
In your zeal to cleanse
Your fellow man of their sins?

Why are you obsessed with rejection
Hurting another because of a human mistake
While ignoring the ones you make?

Who put you in charge of correction
Banishing those with whom you disagree
Creating on Earth a moral penitentiary?

Why do you cause insurrection
In the hearts and minds of those
Who see you standing with no clothes?

Why must we pass through the intersection
With you there steeped in piousness
Blocking gateways of humanity and godliness?

Why do you demand our genuflection
Beating us with your rod
Demanding worship of your IDEA of God?

Rid my mind of the infection
Of zealous and unforgiving worship
I no longer value your courtship

Viewing life through your obsession
Living in fear of error
Transferring to me your terror

Begin your marriage of integration
Of the word and your life
Put down your unholy knife

Understand that your interpretation
Is confused when judging another
Look in the mirror; it's time to discover

The true meaning of the invitation
Is about you and you only
Leave the others to someone more holy

The meaning of divine communication
Is the action that is so true
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you...."

I don't know why I go over there... they stepped write into my trap... I posted this hub then challenged them (Christians = KKK) knowing full well they would turn on me. They think they are so evolved but if they truly were they would have been able to read this hub and rationally concluded that I am in the middle. Instead they probably think I'm a Fundamentalist because I dared to call them out on their extremism. Pretty funny. Obviously I'm easily entertained. Anyway I'm done with that thread. We'll see if I get a warning or whatever from the moderators....

Hi Hattie... thanks for supporting me. I just think they are mental. I hope I don't get banned but you see they are just a bunch of anal retentive tattle tales and there is an emotional problem that is driving them. I'm not here to tell anyone what is the truth about life and you can see from my poem above that I have my problems with zealots. But those guys are worse!

Thank you Cheyenne... yeah, you're right... I do stand with my questions and I'm pretty confident about the message... giving not taking; comfort not abuse; understanding not judgement... it's easy to say but there's that road rage problem....

      :)

What can you do? - you can stand alone in the confidence of your thoughts with all the questions - when all is said and done we all stand alone -

Great thoughts here - thank you for sharing and making us all look alittle deeper...

Thank you Petra... I respect both you and Ralwus greatly and it is very gratifying to hear the kind words.

One of my "tormenters" read the poem and of course disagreed with my take. She didn't see herself in the poem...

      What can you do?

Just loved it! Your questions and your answers are great and should "torment" the mind and soul of the ones that think their God (whether in a religious sense or not) is better than mine or yours.

      Thanks man...

I'm the focus of several people who believe me to be a lost soul and it is apparently their class project to "save me."

I'm no devil... I'm just selfish...

I don't appreciate how I have to listen to their dogmatic interpretation of truth...

Keep writing my friend! It is a matter of the dogs now judging the sheep and I thought we only had one Shepard. Cheers, Charlie
