Poem: The Grass Ain't Greener, Is It?

Updated on July 13, 2013

We went through our ups and downs,

Distance, trials and growing pains,

In all your drama and missteps,

Still I remained,

You stepped to the left,

Meeting this one and that one,

Enjoying life without consequences,

Until you met the mirage,

The grass ain’t greener, is it?

The peace has become chaos,

Thinking that she was the one,

Got you a big slap in your face and feeling dumb,

The grass ain’t greener, is it?

You have no control,

There is this big, unhealthy stronghold,

You are warped in this nightmare,

You deal day by day,

Trying to cover up your dismay,

Realizing that you made the wrong choice,

Now that stronghold has a daily voice,

The grass ain’t greener, is it?

No, indeed it is not,

Thinking back to the one you truly love,

Faced with the craziness that you’ve now got.

The grass ain’t greener, is it?
