Poem: The Reason for the Season

Updated on October 7, 2013
Source

His mother was a virgin,

His father was a carpenter,

Chosen by God above,

To parent this phenomenal gift of love,

A profound, historical moment in time,

An assignment that was predestined through his bloodline,

Change began to touch everything on earth,

Beginning on that one starry night of his birth,

He is the reason for the season,

The true meaning why our lives are given,

Covering, unconditional love and unmerited favor,

A unique, life changing, never-ending endeavor,

An unblemished and pure soul,

With the touch of his hands could make one whole,

Free from sickness, pain and death,

He taught, healed and ministered until taking his last breathe,

On that heavy wooden cross he died,

A sacrificial Lamb of God given for you and I,

From birth until death he remains,

The only consistent, true allegiance for pure change,

He is the reason for the season,

The true meaning why our lives are given,

Covering, unconditional love and unmerited favor,

A unique, life changing, never-ending endeavor.
