Poem: Walk with me

Walk with me

Will you walk with me

The night isn’t over

I want to know

That you’ll stay closer

The stars don’t shine

As the clouds hang lower

I feel all alone

As fireflies glower

The freezing wind

It chills my skin

My heart does ache

I feel colder within

As the darkness creeps

It may hide the sins

Of the treacherous path

As my journey begins

My shoulder waits

For a gentle hand

As I am moving through

This perilous land

Want to feel the warmth

Of you walking close

I want to hear you breathe

The rustle of clothes

When I feel you near

My courage glows

A bubbling stream

Of hope that flows

There’s a promise of dawn

In the distant sky

Tell me it’s true

Not an empty lie

Will you walk with me

The night isn’t over

I want to know

That you’ll stay closer

      Mohan (Docmo),

Your beautiful words, your imagery ensure that you will never walk alone.

Even if unseen, you will never be alone.

Doc, I would walk with you, but I'm afraid my chaperon won't let me out after dark. :) Beautiful poetry, lovely imagery, and a mental tease. :)

@santi Lio sad to hear your walk but somehow there is solace in nostalgia and taking the walk again through someone else's words. IT shows there are others who share the same pain.

@Amy - I ma glad I got it. I've taken this walk and in some sense I feel I am taking this walk and hoping to be listened to.

Docmo, I could feel the cold and your hopeful yet tentative emotion in this walk. Beautifully expressive and evocative. You got it!

Great poem. Reminds me of the night I left for university. My girlfriend and I spent the entire night talking about our future. I hadn't even properly packed, yet all I concerned myself with was our relationship. Thanks for taking me down memory lane.

      Santi,
