Poem: Tonight

Updated on November 02, 2016
Docmo profile image

Mohan is a family physician, film and TV aficionado, a keen bibliophile and an eclectic scribbler.

Tonight
Tonight

Tonight

Tonight

The moon sheds its borrowed light

Onto snow soaked

Rooftops

Shadows play hide and seek

Between

Silent sleep filled

Houses

My footprints

Yearn

for company on barren

sidewalks

I can see my breath

Coalesce

Into ghostly memories

Of you

My pride

Lost you

Among the twisted lanes

Of our love

Empty footsteps

Echo

In the Alleys that

Go nowhere

But I’ll

Find you again

come snow or hail

My love will prevail.

Thank you, Mia. I read your poem and saw that you share the feeling in your 'blistery misery' Isn't it wonderful how we can tap into the same well of emotion and come up with pieces of work? Love, Mo

Another beautiful poem. I was reminded, in your last lines, of words that my late husband spoke to me as he was leaving this world. Your poem rings bittersweet in my heart.

Denise, so sad and poignant to hear your comment. Don't know whether to be glad or sorry that this brought back bitter sweet memories.. but I suppose all poetry is like that. it resonates in the reader's mind and heart if it has truth and emotion in it. Take care. x Mohan

Stark, like the bluish cold of the snow and landscape. The ambiance of the scape and fashion of the words sets a perfect tone for your emotion. Magnifique!

I like the new picture of you, also.

OMG, I am so carried away with your writing. OMG, what a

heart that beats within you...you are not of this earth.

Your footprints are in the world, but not of the world.

I read your "Tonight"...and became speechless. Where does

your Spirit rest? Thank you for reading me.

I will post something soon and let you know how similar we

feel. I wrote it years ago...hide and seek...:-)

      Mohan (Docmo),

I don't know how I've missed reading this poem before now. No matter the poetic form you use, your poetry is brilliant. This poem is no exception, my friend.

"I'll find you again come snow or hail" THAT is a classic. You always find the most beautiful way to write about the most common sense situations. Now that I've said that, I, like Daisy, can't figure out why I missed it. You must've written it while I was napping under a rock!

      Voted up, awesome, and beautiful.
