Poem - True Love

Updated on December 31, 2010

Poem - The Truth Has Arrived

The truth
Like a whisper in your ear
So close
Telling you things are as they appear
So revealing
Into their heart you will peer
So hard
Letting you know pain may be near
So obvious
Things are never unclear
So comforting
Letting you know I am here
So difficult
Will you hate me in a year?
So soothing
Towards love you will steer
So scary
Will the hope disappear?

Can you take the chance
Or is it just another romance?
Will it become life itself
Where truth will challenge yourself?

And does your heart
Flutter with anticipation?
Because it's never felt this before?
But beware of obligation

To me or to anyone else
To yourself you must be true
Can you risk the future?
Is it meant for me and you?

Words are just words
They are not a beating heart
Or a worried mind

Yet they can reveal more than you know
Like a river that never ends
Something that you hope to find

The water from the mountains to the sea
Carving it's way into your life
Burning into your mind

Why do I say this to you?
Because I can see in you
Someone who is my kind

But, there is no promise
Just the hope of seeing upon your face
A smile... because love is blind

Thank you amorea... it is an attempt to assure someone of the simple fact of my love... it doesn't have to be anything more or less than that... there is no promise; there is nothing but the love which transcends mere convention....

You have power and iron in your words Suburban Poet - I really like the short, sharp lines which force impressions into my heart so I can feel them as you choose me to. Thanks for this - another great poem.

Love can be totally blind, but love, true love is the most amazing feeling ever. Lovely poem, thank you.

Do you believe things are as they appear? I am not sure I agree. Thanks for the thought.

Yes Petra that is our job as poets... you know they say it's easy to talk the talk but hard to walk the walk and so many people say things that they cannot deliver... my effort was to tell the imaginary lover that I understand this but that my words are sincere and true as they relay the feelings that I carry for them...

Thank you Never.... (I like your hubber name)... sometimes things aren't as clear for others as they are for the writer because they speak of things that nobody knows but them.... I'm glad you like it.

"words are just words/ they are not beating hearts/ or worried minds/ - like that as poetry, however I know the power of words and I respect them as a writer.

I do believe words have a life of their own and a mind of their own and it is the poet's "job" to bring them into the minds and heards of the reader.

Truth and true love . . . Finding "someone who is my kind" is so precious. Lucky are those who find each other. Thanks for sharing your words that touch gently and deeply at the same time.
