Poem:Not so Love Poem

Updated on December 15, 2010

I sent you a letter

pleading for help after

five years of loving you.

Well two and three quarters of love

the remaining

filled with resentment

only of me holding on

to someone who couldn’t be held

tight enough.

The letter was brief, I wanted

to love you, it was hard

after the lies, the women,

the drinking and more women.

my eyes were shut

I didn’t want to know

maybe fear of being alone

set in for both of us.

The letter may have arrived

we already said good-bye

you were strong to say

I don’t love you like that anymore

my desperate prayer complete

I was given the help to let you go.

Great poem but sad but life sure does go on, and for the better!

Great poem, but oh so sad. To love and then let go is so difficult.
