Poem:Versions of Love Poetry

Updated on March 14, 2011

When I met you

it wasn’t a good time for me.

I vowed to be single

too many men in a row

feeling strung out, like after

the third cup of coffee

cramming for a final

or writing the last minute words

for the essay waiting to be,

The time we sat next to each other

I noticed, I noticed you,

even took a second glance

maybe one more drink then I’d go.

That night we went separate ways

notions of you lingered through me

almost feeling once more

I asked you out for dinner

that was it, the first day

of our adventure

never looking back, once a bump

got in our way, but we leapt

now stronger, growing, sharing
