Poems From the Jersey Shore 9 - Fun Poems
Ooh That Smell
Perfume bottles and gallon jugs
Your smell is coming my way
There’s to much aroma and too much haze
Look whose holding their breath
Ooh that smell
I remember that smell
Ooh that smell
That smell is surrounds you
See you walking down that street
Flowery smell is upon you
Splash another quart on,
I can smell you coming from
Al least from twenty feet away
Ooh that smell
I remember that smell
Ooh that smell
That smell surrounds you
That perfume you’re wearing
It’s causing me to feel woozy
You need to lighten up the smell
People are starting to avoid you
Ooh that smell
I remember that smell
Ooh that smell
That smell surrounds you
Hey you, you smell
If you know what I mean
Beaching It
Surf and sand, Blankets in a row
Umbrellas are up, blockin’ the rays
Smell of suntan lotion in the breeze
Going to have a beautiful day
Out on the beach
Out on the beach
Where the people All want to go
To erase the boredom of their days
Out on the beach
Out on the beach
Girls in bikinis laying on towels
Workin on their best suntans
Others strolling in the waves
While lovers sit holding hands
Kids all playing with some toys
Building castles in the sand
While mommas watch over them
Seagulls snatching what they can
Out on the beach
Out on the beach
Where the people All want to go
To erase the boredom of their days
Out on the beach
Out on the beach
No Need For That or That
There’s a place in the garage that
Will always be filled
A space
Which during most of
the days
And
over the
years
We will throw stuff in it
We will throw stuff in it
More than
Ever
There a place in the garage
Which is always filled
With stuff
With so much stuff
And we fill
And
Fill
That space
There’s no need for that
Grandchildren
Grandchildren
on any given day
are wonderful
are beautiful
are enough to make time
pass for me
Grandchildren
Make my days
nothing for wanting
They are
the tapestry of knowing
what I do
and what I show
my grandchildren
I did
they will do
It why it is important
to be an example
To spoil them as much
As I can
So my kids will
Remember
The words I told
Them in their youth
I don’t get mad
But that day will
Come
When I get even
Cleaning the Basement
I’ve been cleaning
Out my basement
All my livelong days
I’ve been cleaning
Up my basement
Just to give the stuff away
Can you hear my
Wife calling
Where’d it all come from
Can you hear my
Wife calling
When you going to
Soon be done
I just nod to her, then smile
And then turn to bag
Some more
I’ve been cleaning
Out my basement
All my livelong days
I’ve been cleaning
Up my basement
Just to give the stuff away
The Old Age Question
The old age
question not to be
confused
with the age old
question
At what age
does one
become
old
over the hill
a forgotten fossil
If you ask
each generation it is
the next
and so on
and so on
till the young
become old
the old become
older
and the older
become
dare I say
ancient
Cleaning the Bathroom
I promised my wife
I’d clean the bathroom
Now I don’t know
I’m really not sure
I think I spoke too soon
The bathroom is really
quite a mess
A stain here
A stain there
A stain in the tub
I really must…
A hum
Okay, okay
I got my scrub brush
Gloves
And all purpose stuff
I hope it will all
Be enough
I let you know if
I get out alive
Inside My Head
We had a jar with a bumblebee
We opened the lid, set it free
There are things inside my head
Which can’t be easily said
Stories, jokes and poems there are
Locked inside like a bee in a jar
If I could only set them free
I’d give them as a gift for you from me
