Poems and Poetry: A Shoulder to Cry On

Updated on January 7, 2012

A Shoulder to Cry On

An understanding ear to whine to

It felt good to have such a friend

One person who’d never do a

One hundred and eighty degrees

When she least expected it

He was enough to get her through

Coma because any time he was

Near her electricity hummed through

Her body setting small fires sizzling

Through her blood stream and lighting

Up every nerve ending like neon signs

She always rolled the taste of her feeling

Around her mind the way a connoisseur

Might test a fine wine on his tongue

No. she couldn’t risk losing him

If it all fell apart in her hands

Her heart wouldn’t survive the pain
