Poems and Poetry: Blow Dealt By Fate

Updated on March 20, 2012

Blow Dealt by Fate

Fear crashed in upon me like waves

God was the only raft for me to cling

To in this unfamiliar waters

How was I ever going to learn to swim

In an ocean of disappointment and failure?

I felt as if I had put on a crown of hot steel

For a moment I felt as if black eyes

Peering down from brooding clouds

Angrily on me

All that was left was the smoldering amber

Of the dying fire in me

My dignity lay at my feet

Despite the horrid circumstances and

The tragic blow dealt me by the hands of fate

I foresaw only good things after.
