Poems and Poetry: Ending Up Empty-handed

Updated on March 21, 2012

Endin Up Empty-handed

The thought of ending up in life

Empty-handed after a difficult

And treacherous a journey was

Galling to me; at the thought

My heart twisted and I winced

With the twinge of pain

Pain seemed to radiate from me

Like the waves of heat that pulsed

Off a road baking under a hot sun

Then I took the bull by the horn

And work very hard to change my

Situation before it was too late

Then the first tentative rays of

Sunlight poked through my darkness

Before long, unexpected swell of

Music rose up out of nowhere and

Riots of flowers bloomed in

Dozens of colors in my horizon

The sky over my life became

Brilliant blue and raised my hope

Of ending my earthly sojourn with

Happiness and joy.
