With God nothing is Possible

Updated on April 11, 2016

I Have Been Down That Road Before

I started with nothing so if

I eventually end up with nothing

I wouldn’t be a stranger to it.

Grass rise to eminence I am

Before God handed me the keys

To riches and respectability.

When I look back upon those

Hungry days when I crawled

In the mud and kissed the floor

I shiver because hard days I’ve

Known, tightropes I’ve walked,

Ragged I was but those who

Laughed at me now holler my

Name wanting to touch the hem

Of greatness.

Such is the way of the world.

The first three lines are a great opening to the rest of the poem. Yes, it is the way of the world but always remember those humble beginnings, my friend. Voted up!
