Quiet Ancients

Quiet Ancients

I’m surrounded by trees

Yes, trees, they’re magnificent

They tower over me

Looking down in silence

It’s terrifying to know

I have no real sway but

Destruction, over these

Beautiful silent creatures

They know of the winds

That ravaged their bark

And limbs

Still, they stand in my sight

There’s years here, centuries even

Holding knowledge and

Silence, mainly, still, silence

There’s so much here

Wisdom requires few words

As do trees

They require none

And grow tall and proud.
