Poems of Words Collect

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Two poems of older origin filled with the love of words that guided me to be a writer and poet. The use of distinct rhyme and alliteration give power to the words. I hope you enjoy them...

The Act

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Shadows cast on crystal spires,

from laden jets of funeral pyres.

Scarcely dreamt of horror bent,

the mindless sanctions circumvent.

Belief profound and self-denial,

the act proclaimed the deed defiled.

Ignorant seed and prideful waste,

death deplored but martyred made.

Baneful thoughts in pious minds,

lamenting angel tears define.

Sadness lost to madness gain,

hatred thrives but God remains.

Arise

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Tallow mice and rancid spice,

and fetid nests abound,

an incubus, a plague of rot

and decaying stench a crown.

To depths of death and middle worlds,

of lost and damaged souls,

rebirthed to tarry in human earth

and inflict their will so cold.

For prying lives that seek the gloom,

of festered hatred’s orb,

the eyes of rotting corpses rise,

for sustenance and gore.

The driven thirst for pain and blood,

is loathing earthly life,

damned to hell unquenchable,

for murder lust and strife.

Where were you in your life when you wrote The Act? It reminds me of chaos becoming clarity. I voted UP!
