Poetic Expression: Black Ink

Updated on June 19, 2013

Black Ink by ninamarie (my pseudonym)

I bleed black ink

Removed my mouth from stern dicks

No longer turning tricks, to get my hair fixed

No more swallowing, now I spit

Lyrical nuts

Knowledge is what I suck

No longer stuck, as a horny niggas last resort

Or a paid niggas free fuck

Emily Dickinson struck a chord in me

Maya set the fire

Giovanni the flame

Tupac embarked game

Nina Simone, Nina Mosley

Thus the name

Transformed myself into myself

A genius mistunderstood, yet still the same

And I bleed black ink

Instead of expressing myself in exasperated screams of lust

Head crammed in iron head post

I gave up the ghost

Gave up the life as the neighborhood hoe

Now I coast on metaphorical seas

Like Tarzan I swing on analytical trees

Making haste not to disturb their metaphysical leaves

I lie in deep shades

And bathe myself in a rhythmical breeze

See while others write for a fee, I write for me

Cause in contrast to the other options

I use this shit as my therapy

And I bleed black ink

I removed the lye and decided to go nappy

And I... accepted my father wasn't my daddy but more like my pappy

And I... removed the lies and realized I was never truly happy

And I... found that I wasn’t a coward like Scooby but a warrior like Scrappy

Thus I... gave up the name

That represented the DNA chain

That attempted to retrain

That which could not be contained

Set free, breathing life into ninamarie

And I bleed black ink

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read and comment on my work. It definitely isn't easy having some one judge something that means so much to you.

I really like it you are so talented with your writing. You didn't leave anything out that goes on in everyday lives but, we want to look the other way as if it never happens to us.
