Poetic Nostalgia

Updated on November 9, 2012

Nature and Beauty

The scenic beauty of these tourist sites in India has thrilled and excited me so much that they have left a lasting impression upon my mind. Its memory lingers in my mind's eye even after so many many years..... I wish to share its beauty with all of you folks....

Nature and Beauty

The sky was a beautiful sparkling blue

‘twas summer of Nineteen Eighty-two

I clearly remember those magical days

Life was fun and frolic in so many ways.

The year had been busy and challenges many

Now it was summer and days were sunny

So I visited a hill-station full of beauty

It was time for relaxation and ease from duty.

Kodaicanal in South-India was the destination chosen

Its scenic beauty was one amongst a dozen.

The Rose Gardens had flowers more than the leaves

The Rosy Scent in the air attracted the bees.

Boating in the Lake was a real experience

The Kodaicanal trip was par-excellance

Gardens and Flowers and Moss and Bees

They were found everywhere…also shady trees.

Periyar Lake was our next destination

This Lake is indeed the pride of our nation

Elephants bathed and the water was so calm

Their mud-bath left us in a trance.

Now so many years since then have passed

But still its memory leaves me aghast

My heart yearns for a re-visit to this place

I wish to lose myself in its splendour and grace.
