Poetry, Like Love, Dances in The Heart of Man. A Loving Dedication to Alysia McAlister (Laughing Rain)
Heart portal
Light in darkness
Although an avid reader, bright; passionate,
She had long struggled to comprehend his eloquence.
But today the portals of her Heart flung open,
And the majesty of the Light illuminated her darkness.
Now she smelt the wafts of sunflowers,
Rustling in the breeze; the whisper of butterflies,
Lighting up their natural habitat.
Amidst all this, the flautist captivated her Heart,
As she held the sacred parchment,
Its flute playing a remarkable symphony
As if tuned by Love.
Not so long ago, she had tugged at this same calfskin,
Trying needlessly to pull the snow from flakes,
Which waltzed within a calligraphy of words sublime.
Only it was not doable, and Almeida comprehended it not.
But now she heard the murmuring of melliferous bees;
Tasted their honey, as the might of the ocean
Lashed against the shoreline.
She would not question his words again,
For, like Love, good poetry has no cause or reason.
Like an astrolabe of God’s secrets,
It glides through the luminosity of the Sun,
Dancing in the Heart of Lovers, until one day,
A supernal beauty springs forth,
Exploding into fragments of ineffable Delight.
It is then that the joyful tears of the Lantern Carrier,
Will convey silently, the jubilant tidings of Golden Rain.
