Poetry--Love Forevermore

Updated on July 22, 2012

Intro

This was a challenge poem; a friend of mine wanted me to write a poem that captured a long relationship over time, that he wanted to present to his to new lover that he had only known for a few weeks. I had 45 minutes, and I did have to do a revision because he wanted it shorter so he could memorize it before their big date. This is the version he decided on.

I hope enjoy Love Forevermore. Thank-you for taking the time to read this poem. Please feel free to comment; suggestions are always welcomed.

Love Forevermore

You and I love each other forever long,

Together our love is a number one song.

Through the hard times our love endures

The wounds we may have, our love cures.

Our love for one another shall never part,

Even if weakness creeps into our joined heart.

Joined together forever by destiny and fate,

Our Karmic bond made each other our soul mate.

Occasionally doubt may creep in,

Insecurities make us feel our love is a sin.

We must remember no matter what the future has in store,

Our love will continue to grow forevermore.

Each obstacle we may face no matter how hard it may be,

The seeds we will plant one day will continue to grow on our family tree.

Whenever one doubts whether it is meant to be,

We shall always remember our love is stronger and bound by destiny.

Our souls joined permanently together,

Will survive life’s great endeavor

Love Forevermore,

Our love will always endure.

Joy56, Poetry just like other writing forms is an art...some people appreciate it and some people don't. We can't let others, like some of the people in that forum, discourage us or others from writing. :) I like your comments as well!!

This is an amazing poem. I love the line, "The seeds we will plant one day will continue to grow on our family tree." I was thinking of my husband and I and how one day we hope to have children and watch them grow. Thank you for sharing!

i write poetry myself. i only have one posted but. im a big critic ecspecially on my own work. dont take offense to anything i say, if anything it should help you become a better writer.. the only thing i have to say that would make this poem better,, that hasnt already been said in before comments, is that you should work on the flow of the lines, if your poem is going to rhyme, the flow should match perfect.. IMO

good work. you asked for "opportunities for improvement". I am not a poetry teacher and this is not a class (per say). Imitate what you like of others and always let your light shine.

Patty, I truly enjoyed this poem! Looks like I'm going to have to write a response to this one. Of course it's going to be a positive response because I like reading this poem. I'm in deep love with my fiancee, so this poem really hits home with me! Excellent job, and I'm definitely going to have to keep reading more of your poems. Chrishell did an awesome job on that painting!

Thank-you billybuc!!! I do appreciate your encouragement!! In regards to publishing an ebook, I wouldn't even know where to begin...there are sooooo very many EXCELLENT poets and writers on HubPages, I wouldn't even begin to compare myself with them.

rcrumple, I couldn't agree with you more!!! My friend that asked me to write this poem, has a terrible reputation with the ladies. However, the person he is with now, he actually seems to care about. She has doubts because of his reputation. The original poem I wrote didn't have enough negativity about love that reflected who he really is. This poem was written specifically to him and how he wanted to reflect his feelings towards her. He had me revise the poem more to suit the words, his feelings, and not something that most lovers would say to one another. I personally loved my original poem however, I post my writing challenges on here. There big date night is on Thursday; If I remember, I will post on here what she thought!! THANKS for the suggestions!! I do appreciate it!!

Patty, you know I love your poems. I like this one, and hopefully, you won't take offense, but this one feels rushed. You're changing tenses from a current "our love together shall never part" to the future "even if weakness creeps in" to the past "...made each other our soul mate" all in the same stanza. Also, you fought the possibility of weakness once "that the love will never part" and as soon as that's conquered, you reopen the topic by bringing in "doubt" two more times, another possible weakness. Do people in love want to be reminded about all the negative possibilities, or, do they want constant reinforcement and promises of devotion, loyalty, shining stars of joy, and , love forever long? Again, you've written many more than I so please excuse my boldness. I could be totally off base. And I do like it. I know you're a tremendous writer and this one just seems like if given more time to go back over, could have been another tremendous offering by one that definitely has a gifted heart and talent. Still, I voted up and interesting.

Another beautiful piece of writing. Have you ever thought of publishing an ebook of your poetry? Just a thought, but you really are quite good....in fact, prolific would be another word to toss in there. :)

      Great job Patty!
