The Long Journey Home

Weary, war-torn, wondering

When the long waiting will cease;

Slowly, far too slowly,

Travelling the open seas.

What has changes? What hasn't?

Perhaps it's me who is new.

Lights shine with approval

From heaven, right on cue;

Granting hope and wonder

to the child-like, humble heart.

Strengthening my commitment

With the will to do my part.

The journey back to Father

Seems crooked, slow and long.

Enduring, pressing onward,

He'll receive me with His love.

A Palette of Love

In nature we see such great artistry

Created in worlds on high.

A gift from above, expressing deep love,

Our heart overflows and we cry.

Our prayers then ascend.

The world is our friend.

We see where "true saints" have trod.

Our purpose is clear, and heaven feels near --

Our service gives thanks to our God.

The Path

Mists of darkness bar my path

Winds pulling me away

Frightened, I reach for the rod

Vowing ever to stay;

On the path so narrow,

Holding tightly to the rod,

Not frightened by surroundings

Having faith in the Living God.

Focused intently I travel

Distraction, not part of this scene.

Each step bringing me closer

Making reality of my dream.

Forward, pressing forward

Not content still to stand

Fighting against fierce opposition

Along the rod; hand over hand.

Until that glorious tree

With fruit so white and sweet

I reach; and there, partaking

Hopefully loved ones to meet.

In the Garden with You

In the garden You were kneeling

Feeling more than You could bare

Forced to watch, I saw You bleeding,

Tearful eyes and matted hair.

In the sky my life was passing

And I watched You pay the price

For every wrong I've ever done

As it flashed before my eyes.

How it hurt to see You struggle!

How I wished to ease Your load!

You eyes with so much love looked up;

Your countenance, it glowed!

Enveloped in a blanket of love.

Drenched by the waters of the Spirit.

Hope and help from above;

I am clean! I am new!

I was sobbing in the garden

As I wiped away Your tears.

Then, You turned to comfort me;

Quieting my fears!

With covenant I promise

To do as You have done;

to carry, help and comfort,

Ans with Father to be one.

With tender love I'll carry

Every trial I must endure.

And pain no more to cause You,

Of this You can be sure.
