Poetry: Real Love

Updated on April 8, 2016

True Love

When you feel the real love

Days are filled with sunshine

Nights are filled with pleasant dreams

And past and present fused into one

So excited you are that you

Think you might pop like a soap bubble

You can make the sun come

Out of your smile.

Real love develops a new bond

Between two people which makes

Each ceases to exist as

A separate entity

But an adjunct that can’t live

Apart from the other.

When you feel the real love

Though the birds sing their songs

However sweet and musical

The songs will be not be as musical

As your rejoicing heart

Wherever your lover is, is your home

Your only home.

What your lover approves, you approve.

Your lover will stand between you and sadness

As an eclipse stands between sun and moon.

When you feel the real love

You will sit like prince/princess

With golden showers around you

You’ll feel the balm of love rising like an

Open fountain in your heart.

Real love has its own language

Much can be said without words.

Real love will keep you permanently warm

Like keeping egg under a nest of straw.

It keeps you suspended over

The valley of joy and fantasy

Moving you back and forth from

One side of the valley to the other making

You mirth personified.

Real love survives death

Just as the sun survives the night.

Real love is armed with the weapon

That destroys all barriers;

Though real love is not

Every day occurrence
