Poetry: When You Said I Love You

Updated on March 18, 2012

When you said, “I love you”

It was as if I’d been given a high,

Direct jolt of electricity to my heart

It couldn’t have leaped any

Higher and for dozens of reasons

I haven’t figured out yet how it

Happened and dozens more I may

Never figure it out

But I felt as if I’d started to fizz with

Electricity unable to control the

Direction of its current

Whenever you’re in a room I was

Acutely aware of your presence

By picking up tiny vibrations in the air

And I always find myself quivering in

Response fighting to control the

Simmering cauldron of emotions

Bubbling inside me.

Poems are where love sometimes begin or end. We each describe love as we feel it, sometimes dramatic, other times a soft, sweet gentleness. However it feels, it is a wonderful experience
