"Poison" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"Poison"

Polluting my body, polluting my spirit, polluting my mind

A victim surrounded by poison, pollution piled up high over time

Into our banks, into our churches, into our hearts, into our homes

Judging what lay inside, based on the outside, judging the blood of our own

Our families, what we deep down know and love

Judging, pushing against each other, at the edge, push comes to shove

The battle for power, in which we do not possess

Power possesses us, so it's us, put to the test

To tame the flame, the passion, the lustful thirst for skin

To understand it's truly how you play this game called life, the game in which no one ever wins

Due to the fact that we are all dead, I mean we're all going to die

So don't drown in the poison, give floating a try

Take reality and turn it on its head

Flip flop, surreal acrobatics, now reality is dead

Now im the snake, the one who spits venom

Im the one with no need for feet, so keep your shoes, I've already been in them

Stomping around your hood, your castle, your churches resurrected up unto the sky

I hear the bell ringing, for the bell is ringing, ringing the bell is I

Due to the fact that I'm still alive

To hear it

To feel it

To see it

To taste it

To touch

A charming snake dancing around the fire, falling into the flame, the flame becometh the crutch

Scales n skin nestled up against the heat, the white hot burn of desire

Support, a high wire act, my belly on the wire

Slithering around above the poison, trying to enjoy the show

All the victims swimming in it, the poison, how do they not know?

Or is it they do?

Ask yourself..... does poison or the anecdote lay inside of you

I hope I have the antidote inside Eric....the good can hopefully overcome the poison. Great poetry as always. You never disappoint. The subject of dying, good and bad etc reminds me of my latest hub though it isn't poetry "One Way Ticket (The Train From Purgatory).

A compelling telling of the conscious inner battle of good and evil that most people fight everyday. Nicely done. Voted up and interesting.
