Political Martyr: a Poem

Updated on July 30, 2017

Val is a life-long student of the psycho-philosophy of living and a devoted practitioner of many techniques that enhance personal evolution.

Living everyone's life other than his own

this political martyr doesn't even live

while wasting his time as a tiny pawn

with nothing to change, nothing to achieve.

Playing some heroics of a loud mouthed schnook

he is trading dreams for some sterile nightmares

like having jumped out of a comic strip book

he keeps rebelling while no one really cares.

A self-appointed reformer he picks all losing fights

blind to his futile ranting around

seeing all kinds of violated rights

he can't make a touchdown to a solid ground.

His agenda is noble, his mission humane

as he keeps shouting something patriotic

so we can't call him completely insane

but certainly confused and little idiotic.

For, ultimately nothing is ever affected

and even revolutions never brought about content

with every careerist so obvious, yet elected

reminding of a making love without consent.

So very true the words that are spoken from this poem. Great work. I agree with the message here. Political pawns are what many leaders are in this world.

Martyrdom can be just or just a waste. It depends on the situation and the cause.
