The other "best " job I've ever had (besides being an artist) was being a soldier in the US Army. I joined the National Guard to fulfill a childhood interest (at the time I could not join full time because of family). I enlisted in 1984 and survived basic training, I eventually went to MOS school and was promoted to Spec Four. A year later a Warrant officer talked me into trying out Officer Candidate school; I thought he was crazy but it became one the biggest challenges in my life. A year later I was commissioned as a 2LT in the Army National Guard; I immediately switched to Infantry and was soon training at Fort Benning GA. 1988 was a great year...
My interest in all things military and Sci-Fi has been a lifelong passion. My series Gen-Eg reflects that. My years of service are special to me and I truly miss them.
