Porcelain Dolls and Powder Kegs

Updated on January 13, 2016
Source

There is nothing left to fear

Nothing left to bare here

No secrets should I hide

Can’t fight how I feel tonight

Or who I am inside

I’m not perfect even if I tried

Get too close

Accidentally tighten your hold

Watch it all shatter like glass

Loosen your grip

And find you’re standing on a warship

Go ahead, light that match

Nothing left to lose, I guess

Porcelain dolls and powder kegs

There’s one thing on my mind

It’s only a matter of time

If I’m naked and exposed

How long before it all explodes

Is it me that you see

Or the me you want me to be

Get too close

Accidentally tighten your hold

Watch it all shatter like glass

Loosen your grip

And find you’re standing on a warship

Go ahead, light that match

Nothing left to lose, I guess

Porcelain dolls and powder kegs

Here today, gone tomorrow

Nothing left but empty sorrow

Porcelain dolls are fragile

But explosions rain down like a gavel

Thanks, Elizabeth. I shared the idea with a friend as a song title. She told wme it's an interesting concept then asked what I had so far. I had nothing. LOL. So then I started thinking about it and couldn't go to sleep until I write it. Now I need music. LOL

Thanks, Jodah! I appreciate that. As for the picture, I thought it only appropriate, if comparing people to porcelain dolls. ;)

Thanks always! Is that a new profile picture? Love it. The idea was sparked by something a friend said to me along with a few other things whirling around in my mind from other sources of inspiration. It's like a concept suddenly formed out of the blue and I just had to run with it. :)

I came by your page and was going to read another of your poems I have yet to read. However, I could not resist the temptation to stop by this one again and read these brilliant words aloud as I marvel at your genius, Shanmarie. I really love this poem.
