Pounding - My Heart

Updated on December 17, 2017

I think at last I understand

for a year

I’ve seen you

pounding the pavements

hands clenched

behind your back

dowagers stance

cloaked noticeably

in the same weathered jacket

your walking shoes

moving steadily along

in a mantra-like rhythm

head down

the pavements

pounding your anger

very cold

a hat appears

the rest’s the same

your hurt

the hopelessness

walking blindly

through the pain

I watch, I wonder

how close am I?

I hurt

I anger

my heart

Hello Larry, I always welcome and appreciate your comments. As I've said before, you get it. Thank you. Russ

Russ...I really admire the way you transfer emotional anger to the written page wearing the cloak of prose poetry...The effect is immediate and personal...I read this one quickly, then returned at a more leisurely pace, much in cadence with your theme...Larry

I absolutely love how your poetry appear so effortless, like a steady streaming of words that is almost rhythmic! I say more! :D
