Prayer poem

Updated on November 23, 2010

Sometimes there's a loneliness we cannot hide

deep down we feel this ache inside

an emptiness we cannot fill

a heaviness within until...

Broken, we reach out in prayer

knowing not whether you are there

And yet, each time a peace descends

and from the ache a warmth transcends

Oh give us faith, enough to say

it is us who turns the other way

ignoring your love we go it alone

and with every step our heart turns to stone

We need your love to keep our hearts light

Our prayers help us turn our wrongs into right

your love fills us up, and heals all our pain

So I pray we'll never turn, away from you again

brightforyou--this poem is a such a lovely affirmation of prayer and the way it heals us. You should (and may have) sell artistic copies of these words. What a lovely reminder they would offer us if we could read them on our wall every day. Thank you.

Good morning, Helen...What a thoughtful and sweet poem you have written here...This poem should be whispered to oneself when getting up in the morning, taken like a good cup of coffee that starts the day...Peace and love to you, my friend...Larry

So true to relate to a prayer that reaches deep down inside the human experience words that can give one hope that there is light, positive emotions, a new life waiting to be born just a prayer, a word, a thought, a experience away.

Thanks for coming to my sight and following me; I will do the same.

brightforyou you have said in few words what many cannot say or even think. Some people will not understand this, but many will and so I thank you for the reminder of what it truly is all about!
