Precious Lord, I Stand in Awe

Updated on November 29, 2013

For all you have done for me

How can I repay?

For the precious miracle of

Your transforming grace,

Do I have adequate words to sing your praise?

The words, "Thank you" and "I love you.",

Are they grand enough for your majesty?

I stand in awe.

I cannot comprehend

You would choose me

As part of your plan.

Teach me, and I will be silent;

Make me understand how I have gone astray.

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,

and his ears are open to their prayer.

But the face of the Lord

is against those who do evil.

But for you, I would have no hope.

How precious Lord, to call you friend.

More precious Lord, to call you Redeemer.

Thank you so much for this beautiful ode to our God. I often pray in thanks but I forget that He is also my friend. A friend needn't solve all of our problems or bail us out of trouble. A friend simply holds our hand as we go through life, good times and bad times. A friend abides with us while we learn and grow. Sometimes just knowing we are never alone gives us the courage to keep going, figure out our own solutions and become wiser for it. I needed this today.

Lori, Thanks so much for reading. I am glad you were able to use this. He is not only our God, but our friend. He never leaves us. He often times uses the struggles to make us more like Himself.
