Precious Mornings

Updated on June 13, 2016

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I live in the suburbs of Riga, Latvia with my hubby, Martin and cat Sid.

Precious mornings -

when a new day is dawning.

When the rays of the sun,

come shining through.

Precious mornings -

that cannot be even dimmed,

by a gray and rainy day.

Offering time for meditative thought

and daydreams that bring golden memories.

Precious mornings,

as the red sun is dawning.

Birds fill the trees

and the morning songs begin.

Precious mornings,

walking upon a carpet of fir needles,

in the quiet forest,

as golden rays of sun,

come filtering through the tall pines.

Precious mornings,

bring the joy of a new day

and a vitality that makes one smile.

Always bringing new delights -

that we can treasure,

every day that we live.

Precious mornings,

a sign that life goes on.

Anew start every time -

when the dark of night,

gives way to the light,

of a brand-new day.

Morning is just breaking - that light before sunrise. Reading this is a wonderful way to start my day, thank you.

You welcome Eric. My inspiration is these early mornings now when the dawn comes at about 4 AM and the night silence is broken by song birds. Just lovely.

      Thank you so much Patricia.

Gypsy, you have awakened a long ago memory of my Aunt Hattie, when she would get us up to see the day begin and the symphony of the birds starting, thank you for awakening this memory.

      Blessings my friend.

I admit it, I am not a morning person unless I have to be. But I also know there is great beauty in the wee hours.of the morning and you did a wonderful job putting that into words.

I love to look out my dining room window when I get up in the morning, and watch and listen to my birds chirping as they enjoy the seeds I put in their feeder. Beautiful Rasma!

I always find that mornings bring wonderful things - and they are all in your beautiful poem. The music complements your words so well. :-)

Thank you Shyron and blessings to you too.

Thank you Shanmarie. I usually get inspired late at night and head off to bed as the first bird choruses begin but then now in the summer this happens already at around 4 AM

      Thank you Manatita.

      Thank you Ruby.

Thank you Genna. I do love early summer mornings.

I remember walking through the woods in NJ and seeing the sun's ray reach through the trees to the soft path on which I walked (in bare feet). That scene will forever be etched in my mind.

As I child when I could I would spend most of my summers in bare feet. Right now bare feet are a thing of the past here in northern Europe. Our summer is practically none existent and the weather is very cool and rainy. Sort of like when fall starts coming in. I sure hope we still get at least a handful of hot summer day. However when thinking of mornings the weather hasn't affected the birds. Early every morning we get treated to a bird chorus from the apple tree outside our bedroom window. Hope you have a great new week.
