Prose - The Memories Of A Lifetime

Updated on June 6, 2011

Like a beautiful woman
With open arms
Our memories beckon
With their unending charms
I hear your voice
And see the smile on your face
Then I remember why
There is true love in this place
I left long ago
And gave it no thought
Now I see what I miss
Something that cannot be bought
The heart needs a home
A place to belong
We found it once again
In a familiar old song
I looked deeply into your eyes
And there I saw my past
I finally knew
Forever it will last
I made you happy
As you did me
We each carry the light
To brighten our memory
You said we always laughed
You wondered of your place
You said we missed you
I felt it all in our embrace
Forever tied together
We are now family
We cry with joy
Sharing tears gratefully
Tell me my friend
Tell me your worries
Tell me my friend
Tell me your stories
We understand
We know
We live on
And remember you so
It is all we have
Our lives together
It cannot be taken away
It will live forever
We blew away from each other
Like leaves in the wind
But we have planted a new tree
For our final days to spend
We have returned to the garden
Of life giving love
And to each other
We bring blessings from above
With the emotions of a lifetime
We remain in God’s image
The ray of hope and remembrance
Is in his final message

@chisom - thanks man. It was a wonderful night seeing my friends from 35 years ago. Unreal... we were all really happy. It was just so good to be with a group of people who really know you and where you came from...

I really enjoyed reading this. It expressed a lot of the same emotions I had when attending my last reunion. A job well done!

Thank you Poetic Fool. Everyone was blown away by the evening. It was just a lot of fun to talk about old times. I think the best thing is the feeling you get when someone you haven't seen in so long has such vivid and good memories of you. It means you impacted them and you weren't just a wall flower....
